Description:

Pirfenex is orally active small molecule drugs that may inhibit collagen synthesis, down regulate production of multiple cytokines and block fibroblast proliferation and stimulation in response to cytokines. pirfenex tablet

Mode of action

pirfenex is an orally active, small molecule that shows a wide range of biologic activity.

In vitro evidence has shown that Pirfenex inhibits collagen synthesis, pirfenex down-regulates profibrotic cytokines and decreases fibroblast proliferation.

pirfenex leads to a reduction of tgf-beta2 mRNA levels and of the mature tgf-beta2 protein due to decreased expression and direct inhibition of the tgf-beta pro-protein convertase furin. pirfenex tablet
Plasma concentration:

Plasma concentration for this drug should be achieved after repeated doses of 200mg, 400mg and 600mg.
Distribution:

Pirfenex bind to human plasma protein, primarily to pirfenex serum albumin single oral dosing of pirfinidon 100mg/kg.
Metabolism:

pirfenex is metabolized via cyp1a2 with other cyp isoenzymes including cyp2c9.
Indication:

Pirfenex is indicated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. pirfenex tablet

The initial dose for adult is 200mg.
